How the buzz score works

Every Monday we count, for the top models of the Fu Ranking and the best open-weight models, the posts and comments of the past week (Monday to Sunday, UTC) that name them in AI subreddits (r/LocalLLaMA, r/singularity, r/ChatGPT, r/ClaudeAI and more), and the posts on X that name them (retweets excluded). A model is found by its name and its usual spellings (GPT-6 / GPT 6, Qwen3.8 / Qwen 3.8, Opus 5.5 for Claude Opus 5.5). A post that names a longer model name counts for that model only, and version numbers must match whole: “Opus 5” does not count “Opus 5.5”.

For each source, the most mentioned model of the week gets 100 and the others ln(1 + mentions) / ln(1 + top mentions) × 100; the buzz score is the mean over the sources. The log scale keeps differences among the quieter models visible. Scores compare models within a week; for the volume over time, look at the raw counts.
